This new performing arts center is the main community arts venue in San Marcos. The Music Recital Hall and Theatre Center include a 300-seat recital hall, 400-seat proscenium theatre with fly tower, and a grand public lobby. The back-of-house has classrooms, a stagecraft studio, and a loading dock. Critical structural considerations for the facility included acoustical requirements, vibration control, and a design responsive to the vastly different spaces within the center. Subsequently, the recital hall and theatre building have nine distinct levels of framing. The project also features a new 455-car garage with ground floor retail space and a central plant containing two 1,500 ton chillers with space and infrastructure for a future additional chiller.
