Structures has a strong history of designing commercial office and retail buildings. In recent years, we have seen an increase in mixed use projects. The practice of a building having multiple uses, such as residential, parking, office and retail has allowed us to combine our different experiences and provide a deeper knowledge base.

We work with the architect and other consultants to choose economical building systems that minimize floor-to-floor heights, which decreases cladding costs and mechanical load. In vertical mixed use projects, we concentrate on laying out a column grid that works architecturally with the different stacked uses. This minimizes the need for expensive transfer girders. For tenant finish-out within existing buildings, we are often called upon to conduct a structural evaluation or modify an existing space to accommodate new architectural elements or mechanical systems. We help owners evaluate existing structures for purchase, to address concerns or after an unexpected event. Our commitment to team coordination provides owners with successful and economical projects.
