Amanda Dees, PE Project Engineer

Amanda, a graduate of the University of Texas, joined Structures as a Graduate Engineer. She brings experience in the production of BIM/CAD structural designs using Revit and AutoCAD. This allows her to be critical in the review of architectural drawings by locating potential load paths and assemblies before engineering a structure. In addition, she has experience in the analysis and design of multi-family structures using timber and steel. Her extensive understanding of structural and architectural models allows her analytical work to produce designs that meet an architect’s vision.

What is on your bucket list?

Too many things to count, but I actually have this weird goal to touch a penguin. I’ve always wondered what a penguin would feel like. A couple other things I would also like to do are swim with dolphins, ride a Segway and hot air balloon, and be in a flash mob.

If you played hooky for a day, where would we find you?

If I played hooky for a day, it would probably be to enjoy the amazing weather or to attend a musical event whether it be SXSW or ACL Fest.

If you could have any celebrity live next door to you, who would it be?

I think I’d have to go with Ellen DeGeneres. I think she’s hilarious, plus she’s got a lot of celebrity friends she could bring around.

If you had no fear, what would you do?

I would go skydiving.

What are your top 3 things to do/see in Austin?

Food! I love trying new places. The Greenbelt or Town Lake. I like to enjoy the great weather and natural resources here in Austin. Shop. Austin doesn’t necessarily have the best shopping, but nevertheless, I tend to shop on a regular basis.
