Main Building Tower Improvements

In the fall of 1998, the UT system Board of Regents approved the recommendation to reopen the tower observation deck to visitors. The deck had been closed since 1974 and needed the installation of security and safety measures before it could be reopened. A year later the deck was reopened with a "safety lattice" which was designed to provide minimal view obstruction, while providing the safety that was required.
