Central Health Headquarters Renovation
Central Health is dedicated to creating and maintaining a community-wide response to the complex national problem of assuring access to quality health care. Originally built as a grocery store in the 1950s, the Cesar Chavez Building currently serves as the headquarters for the Travis County Healthcare District.
The renovation of the headquarters includes a 15,000 sf interior remodel, exterior upgrades and a reconfiguration of the parking lot. The project will be executed in three phases in order to allow for most of the operations of the owner to continue on site.
The interior remodel will leave the exterior walls, structure, roof and skylights intact, while the existing HVAC system, bathrooms, ceiling and nearly all of the interior walls will be demolished. A new network room which will require a coordinated switchover with the existing one will be included in the interior remodel. The exterior includes the removal of a portico structure and various façade upgrades.
