Zach Scott
Topfer Theatre
The Zach Scott Topfer Theatre is a multi-story, approximately 29,000 sf building, which explores the concept of layered space. The building implements the use of a multitude of structural materials consisting of steel, concrete, and cmu. The entire auditorium portion of the building is situated under exposed steel custom trusses and exposed steel columns where as the fly tower is comprised of a concrete frame and cmu walls.
The 420 seat stage housed within the building will allow ZACH to provide its audience with double the number of seats of its largest current theater.
The building is oriented to the west, facing the current main theatre, the Kleberg. As part of the project the lobby will open up onto a newly designed exterior plaza. This new space will accommodate substantial gatherings of people all the while providing a visual connection to Lady Bird Lake.
The project is aiming for a LEED Silver Certification.
