Arts Center
The Texas State University Performing Arts Center Complex is comprised of four components. The primary component, the Music Recital Hall and Theatre Center will contain approximately 43,700 gsf of new space. The space will include a music recital hall with approximately 300 seats; a proscenium theatre with approximately 400 seats (with a fly tower); public lobbies, restrooms, box office and a loading dock, screened from public view.
The second component is an adjacent parking garage for 450 cars, which will have embedded approximately 10,500 sf for a campus telephone switch facility and Retail space.
A chilled water central plant containing two approximately 1,500 ton chillers with space and infrastructure provided for one future 1,500 ton chiller makes up the third component. The facility will contain all of the support facilities (i.e. cooling towers, pumps, controls, piping, etc.) necessary to make it operational and expandable. The structure will include an architecturally pleasing enclosure to make the facility compatible with the architecture of the performing arts center.
The final component of the complex consists of extensive streets and grounds improvements, which will include extensive campus standard sidewalks, plazas and landscaping. Two parking lots on Moon Street and the abandoned Wood Street will be converted from "gray to green" with parks, gardens, walkways and landscaping in compliance with the campus master plan.
