Years after our first involvement with the original Vespaio, we were reinvited to help with its new expansion. This adaptive reuse project expanded the 5-star, Vespaio restaurant into an adjacent building, allowing for the current space to be turned into a sophisticated European café, Enoteca.

The project also consisted of a much needed kitchen renovation that included expanding the kitchen to three times its original size to include a bakery, up-to-date cook line and state-of-the-art finishes.

One important requirement of the project was to minimize the interruption of the operating restaurant. It was for this reason that the project was completed in three phases: the construction of the rear expansion from the exterior, the completion of Enoteca’s finish out and the kitchen renovation. In all the restaurant was closed for only ten days.

The finished product is a combination of refreshed Vespaio maintaining its familiar brassy energy and Enoteca, a quieter, casual café inviting those with a laid back desire for great food in a warm, sophisticated space.
