Vitaliy Saykin, Ph.D Graduate Engineer

Vitaliy Saykin moved to the US in 1990 from the Russian Federation. Vitaliy graduated from Northeastern University with a Ph.D in Civil Engineering and taught in the Civil Engineering department at Wentworth Institute of Technology for four years. He’s performed structural and health monitoring research as well as published numerous papers in peer-reviewed professional journals. Vitaliy and wife have four sons.

Yes, I was born in the Russian Federation and lived there for 9 years.

How did you get to Austin? 

I moved to Austin after I was offered a position at Structures.

What are your hobbies?

You can usually find me in the gym or playing guitar in my spare time. I also love doing outdoor activities like paddle boarding or going to the beach.

Where would you live other than Austin?

Miami or somewhere with nice weather and beautiful nature.

What are your top 3 things to do or see in Austin?

Hike all the trails, enjoy downtown nightlife, and taste all the different food options around Austin.

If you could live next door to a celebrity, who would it be?

It would be amazing to live next door to Mel Gibson.
