If you played hooky for a day, where would we find you?

Probably out of state. I enjoy traveling and have always thought it would be fun to go to the airport one morning and find out what flights I could take to discover a new city.

Where do you gain your confidence?

My parents have always supported my varied goals and dreams. They have a can do attitude, which they have instilled in me. Everything is possible, you just have to commit to the hard work to make it happen.

Where would you live, if it couldn’t be Austin?

I grew up near Washington DC and find it to be a wonderful city. However, a few years ago I had the opportunity to move to DC, but turned it down because I wanted to stay here. I’ve been in Austin for over 15 years and love it.

Are you involved in any community involvement/charity? If so which ones?

I have served on the Austin ISD Facility and Bond Advisory Committee (FABPAC) since April 2016. This committee is comprised of 18 volunteers, 2 appointed by each trustee. Together we have produced Austin ISD’s first comprehensive 25 year facility master plan and recommendations for the November 2017 bond election. This has been a very rewarding experience and an amazing committee to work with to help Austin ISD.  The committee members draw on each person’s strengths (mine is knowledge of facilities) and everyone’s opinions are respected.

I am also on the board for the Women’s Symphony League, which helps raise money in support of the Austin Symphony and provides outreach activities to introduce children to the symphony.

What do you enjoy about Austin?

The many city supported outdoor amenities – Town Lake Trail, pools and splash pads, parks and Zilker Outdoor Theater.
